DEATH FOLLOWS FALL
OTAHUHU FATALITY CORONER’S VERDICT A verdict that death was the result of a fractured skull and laceration of the brain was returned by the coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., this morning at the adjourned inquest on Walter Price, about 65 years of age. The late Mr. Price was found injured in the Otahuhu Public Hall on August 16 and died at the Auckland Hospital two days later. Fanny Price, widow of deceased, said that as her husband did not come to tea on August 15 she went to the hall, of which he was caretaker. Hearing nothing of him she went home, thinking he had gone to a meeting of the R.A.0.8.
Next morning she returned to the hall and, making investigations, discovered her husband lying unconscious at the foot of some steps. There were chairs scattered about the floor as though he had been carrying them, and had fallen. Other evidence showed that Price had apparenty slipped from the steps and had received injuries which caused his death.
