MOTORISTS AND ACCIDENTS

THE PECUNIARY CONSEQUENCES

A husband and wife were awarded £ 3,270 damages at Birmingham Assizes for injuries received in a road accident.

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Ward, of Harborne, sued Mrs. Rita Thomson, of Edgbaston. In a collision between Mrs. Thomson’s motor-car and *the "Wards’ motor-cycle, Mrs. Ward—who is only 29 —was jammed under the car, and will be an invalid for life. Mr. Justice McCardie, giving judgment, said if motorists who drove negligently would reflect on the physical and pecuniary consequences there would be fewer accidents. Mr. Ward was awarded £630 and his wife £2,740.
