THE PRINCESS

“LAND BEYOND THE LAW” A phase of history in the great colonisation of the West thus far neglected by motion pictures is a vital part of “The Land Beyond the Law," the new First National Western production starring Ken Maynard which is now being screened at the Princess Theatre. While fiction and screen have shown the trials and tribulations of covered waggon caravans as being due principally to Indians, lack of water, shortage of food, no picture thus far has shown one of the bitterest enemies of settlers in the €iarly days, who caused most of the trouble for those desiring to establish homes in new territory.

These were the unscrupulous cattle barons, who realised that they would have to be responsible to the law and would have to raise their stock ligitimately with the establishment of homes and towns in the new West. Thus “The Land Beyond the Law*” shows how gunmen and cattle rustlers, headed by a dishonest cattle baron, were brought to terms when the United States Government took a hand. The difficulties of the early settlers in establishing homes form an interesting and important part of the story. These phases have been fictionised by Marion Jackson in a thrilling and tense story, teeming with action and romance.

Ken Maynard is given a fine supporting cast, with Borothy Bwan, Tom Santschi, Gibson Gowland, Noah Young and Billy Butts among the principals.
