AMATEUR BILLIARDS
ROBERTS DEFEATS BRANDER IN AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP E. V. Roberts, New Zealand amateur billiard champion, defeated W. Brander in the Auckland amateur championship at the rooms of Billiards, Limited, last evening. The game attracted a large attendance of fans to the rooms. Roberts played up to his usual form and throughout the game proved too consistent for his opponent, who was by no means playing up to his usual standard. The final scores were:—E. V. Roberts, 500. Breaks: 24, 31, 33, 23. 33, 21 and 56 unfinished; average, 8.3. W. Brander, 279. Breaks: 32, 20 and 20. This evening W. E. Hackett will play A. Massey.
