DUNEDIN MAN CLAIMS £3,000,000
(Special to THE SUN.) DUNEDIN, Friday.
Mr. John Cochrane McLachlan, of Macandrew’s Bay, Dunedin, is a claim-
ant for what is known as the Clippens estate of property and money, the ownership of which has not been proved for 70 years. Clippens is in Renfrewshire, Scotland, and the gross value of the estate is said to be £3,000,000. It is understood the claimant proposes to proceed without delay to the Old Country to make his claim. The estate was left by Dr. Peter Cochrane, of Clippens, Renfrewshire, one of the founders of the East India Company. One of Mr. McLachlan’s sons is a “redcap” at the Dunedin Railway Station.
