FUNDS FOR THE POOR

PAPATOETOE’S HELP A meeting convened by the Papatoetoe Town Board was held on Wednesday night last, for the purpose of providing means for helping the poor and needy families residing in the Papatoetoe district. A very representative gathering attended at the invitation of the board, among whom were Dr. Jameson. Revs. Greenwood and Davis, and ten other persons representing the various churches, business community and town board. Mr, A. W. Hall, chairman of the town board, presided. It was unanimously decided that there was sufficient scope for the formation of such a society. The first move will be the holding of a concert on or about September 28, when it is intended to ask the band to assist. This will be followed at short intervals by a series of different entertainments, all for the purpose of raising funds. The convening of a meeting of ladies of the district was also decided on to help along the good work.
