CHARGED WITH THEFT COMMITTED FOR TRIAL Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Thursday. Appearing before justices of the peace at the Police Court this morning, Andrew McEwen, a middle-aged labourer, was charged on the information of his wife, at present living at Woodville, with theft of sundry articles of furniture and clothing of a total value of £SO. It was stated in evidence that the parties separated at the end of March. The wife closed her home here and went to Woodville. Returning later she found the articles had disappeared. Defendant had several times visited the house with a carter, taking away a kapok mattress, while a pawnbroker stated defendant sold him sundry household effects and articles of jewellery in June. Defendant was committed for trial.
