SPORTING HYBRIDS!

r p// E announcement that a hybrid A trout has been evolved by the curator of the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society has led to further developments. Mr. NiblicTc-Spooner reports that he has discovered during the week a new plant on the third green at the Middlemore golf links, which appears to be a cross between a nigger-head and watercress. Furthermore. in the course of some under-water investigations at Eden Park recently an Auckland forward states that he came across a crustacean resembling a wellshrimp. but with some traces of a whitebait origin. Unfortunately , this amazing find has been lost to science , as, because of circumstances over which he had no control at the time , the finder swallowed it. Because of the present condition of the weather, it is likely that further important discoveries will be made by investigators to-morrow afternoon.
