WAIKATO LADIES

CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURE Hamilton ladies have issued the programme for their open championship meeting, which will occupy three days commencing on September 21. The course has never been in better order than this year, when it has been specially prepared for the New Zealand men’s meeting. A great deal of improvement has also been effected in the club house, and everything points to a first-class tournament. On Wednesday, September 21, will be one qualifying round for the championship, sixteen to qualify, and the matoh-play will commence in the afternoon. The usual competitions will be spread over the tournament. The winner of the championship will hold the Ellis Cup for a year. This was presented in 1918 by Mrs W. J. Ellis, and has been held by the following:— 1918. —Miss S. Payton (Auckland). 1919. —Miss Wright (Timaru). 1920. —Miss H. Hally (Cambridge). 1921. —Miss M. Payton (Auckland). 1922. —Mrs. Marshall (Auckland). 1923. —Mrs. Slack (Cambridge). 1924. —Not played.

1925. Mrs. D. Hay (Hamilton). 1926. —Miss M. Payton (Auckland) Entries close on September 15.
