Three Mentioned for the Bench
NO EARLY APPOINTMENT SUCCESSOR TO JUDGE STRINGER fTHE SUN’S Parliament ary Reporter. I WELLINGTON, To-day. TT is unlikely that there will be any appointment of a successor to Mr. justice Stringer, until toward the end of this year. Though his Honour is due to retire within a few weeks by reason of the age-limit, it is anticipated that he will remain in active judicial service for several more months, after which he will take over the presidency of the Pensions Appeal Board. This will enable the Government to make arrangements for special work which soon may be allotted to other Judges. It may be mentioned that, although nothing definite has yet been done by administrators in respect of the new appointment to the Bench, the names of three barristers so far are most prominent for preferment, these being Mr. A. H. Johnstone and Mr. E. H. Northcroft, of Auckland, and Mr. J. B. Callan, of Dunedin.
