PRINCE EDWARD
“OH! WHAT A NURSE” The screen rewards its darlings well in the coin of mammon, but oh what it sometimes does to their self esteem and their visualisation in the minds of movie-goers. A proverb has come into general use, “once an apache, always an apache.** Mathew Betz, “menace” in Warner Bros.’ hilarious fun-riot, “Oh, What a Nurse!” starring Syd Chaplin and directed by “Chuck” Reisner, found this to be only too true. Before he ! entered pictures he was what is known : as a “straight man” in musical comedy, the good-looking young fellow with ' the hearty laugh who feeds the come- ; dian his lines. Then someone gave Betz a part as ! brute in a moving picture, and he 1 made such a good one that he’s been playing thieves, cut-throats, bullies, i bootleggers, rum-runners. ex-pugs and other tough and unsavoury charj acters ever since, and is much in demand. His nonchalant manner demolishing a “matie’s mug” in “Oh. |What a Nurse:*’ is said to add greatly to the merriment of the audience. This Chaplin picture will finish its run at the Prince Edward Theatre [ to-night.
