HAMILTON BOROUGH
UNEMPLOYMENT LOAN Advice was received at last night’s meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council of consent to the raising of a loan of £931, which is being expended besides the subsidy, in relief of unemployment. Application by the Pearson Soap Company to cut across a road to work pumice deposits on the same pit level was referred to the Works Committee. It was reported that negotiations for the fusion of the Hamilton Municipal and Military Bands had reached an advanced stage, and a satisfactory agreement was likely. The question of allotting a new taxistand was discussed, and the question referred to the General Purposes Committee, with a recommendation that the sites of existing stands also be reviewed.
