MINING NEWS

ALBURN I A.—The manager reports as follows:—"The western crosscut has been advanced from 311 ft. to 333 ft. The rock passed through this week, although still fairly hard, has been of a better class for progress. There is now a fair amount of water coming out of the heads. The approximate distance from the present face to where we will intersect the ‘Sons of Freedom’ reef, under ‘Radfords patch,’ is 90ft. In the stopes over the intermediate level the prospects are much more encouraging than they have been for some weeks past. The reef is about a width of 2Aft, and has all the characteristics for making good values. While breaking down during the week nice gold was obtained on the footwall side of the reef. This is the first occasion we have got gold on the footwall, and the country rock is well interlaced with mineral seams, so we are therefore looking forward for better values.”
