CONFERENCE AT THE HAGUE By Cable. — Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Tuesday. The director of the Apia Observatory, Mr. Andrew Thompson, is to represent New Zealand at the International Conference of Geophysics at The Hague, which will be opened on September 3. The objects of the conference include the coming to an understanding as to the international use of scientific instruments for recording earthquakes. Mr. Thompson has carried out experiments relating to the height and velocity of wind at Samoa, which are likely to be useful to trans-Pacifie fliers. He is hopeful that valuable results will be achieved at the conference, particularly in the matter of cooperation with European observatories.—A. and N.Z.
