BOY’S PLUCKY RESCUE
PLUNGED INTO RIVER {Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. A plucky rescue from drowning was effected yesterday afternoon, when a boy of six, Cameron White, of New Brighton, fell into the River Avon. Rodney Cooper, a lad 12 years of age, was walking along the riverbank and plunged in to the rescue. The drowning lad had gone under twice when Cooper reached him. Clutching the smaller boy by the hair, Cooper managed to bring him to the bank. White was then carried to a house near by. Neither was any the worse for the experience. The Mayor of New Brighton, Mr. A. W. Owles, intends to bring the plucky action of the boy Cooper to the notice of the Royal Humane Society.
