COMING TO AUCKLAND Marian Marcus Clarke, daughter of author of “For the Term of His Natural Life,” the big Norman Dawn Production for Australasian Films, Ltd., JJ’hieh opens at the Strand Theatre on jteptember i), plays the role of Lady Devine in the screen version of her Other's world-famous story. During the production of the picture Miss Pttke r< ndered much assistance in searing the correct costumes and dresses ?* the period, and obtaining the oldcostumes was an occupation 10 itself, which Miss Clarke thoroughly enjoyed. “When I was in despair and a hnost giving up the idea of getting JJPie special material I needed,” said *hs.s Clarke, “a miracle would happen a nd I would stumble on to some marvellous find. For instance, someone iQ aned me a wonderful frock of seamen taffeta, which was actually made 1865, in the fashion of the ’forties, silk in it was as sound as new Material and of much better Quality those of to-day. It is worn by Catherine Dawn with a quaint little shaped like a shovel in her r °le of Mrs. Vickers in ‘For the Term.’ ”
