A DERBY TRIAL
T H RE E Great Northern Derby candidates figure among the entrants for the approaching fixture at the Hutt and they may be given a run in view of their classic engagement the following month. The trio is Vestas, the Canter-bury-trained colt by Matchlight Imperial Pan, who showed great promise last season Daphne de Ora, a filly by either Logan Pointer or Rey de Ora from Doraldine, whose only start as a two-year-old was in the Sapling Stakes, where she finished third, and the Aucklandowned, Mangere-trained, Bonniewah, by Peterwah—Amy Dillon. Their form, if started next month, should throw some light on their prospects in the first classic of the season at Auckland.
