ONEHUNGA STREETS

LOAN FOR CONCRETING WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED The Borough Council of Onehunga last evening considered a proposed estimated expenditure of £130,000 upon road formation. Cr. E. Morten presented the scheme to a committee of the council last week, but it was considered too extensive to place before the ratepayers and It was decided to recommend that the original proposal, to take a poll for the concreting of Mount Smart Road and Church Street West, be adhered to, and to have the foreman’s estimate checked by Mr. C. Walker, C.E. This course the council adopted and also deciding to ask the Government to subsidise the cost under the relief employment scheme.
