PRACTICE AT HAMILTON GOOD SCORES RECORDED (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. There are now only a few New Zealond championship aspii'ants not at Hamilton. All have been practising in fourballs, and some more good scoring has been recorded. E- J. Moss has the best round to date, a 71 this afternoon. Playing in the same four Hobson (Sydney) recorded a 73. Mclntosh and Horton beat Bell and Colbeck in a private match. The scores were: .Mclntosh 73, Horton 75, Bell 76, Colbeck 77. T. Galloway, the Auckland professional, recorded a 73. Many scores under 80 were recorded. Waiuku Club The first IS holes of the Waiuku senior and junior championships were played during the week. In the senior match between Dv. Howden (last year’s champion) and Dr. Porritt, the first 18 holes resulted i/n the players being all square. In the junior match Aldred was 10 up on Barker at the 18th hole. Both matches will be completed next week. During the week-end a team from the Otahuhu Golf Club visited Waiuku, the result T oeing a win for the Waiuku Club in all the games. The results are as follows, Waiuku players being mentioned Hqrwden and Colbeck beat Menzies and Croxson, 4 and 3. Iporritt and Bloomfield beat Simpson ar/d Eustace, 2 up. Forbes and Ohlson beat A. •Eustace and McPherson, 4 and 3. Christianson and Herrold beat Rose\rarne and Clark, 6 and 4. Armitage and Aldred beat Brown and .“Kay, 3 and 2. Glendowie Club The semi-finals of the senior championship of the Glendowie Golf Club were played on Saturday, when N. Ching beat F. Trice, 1 up, and R. R. Kissling beat R. Edmonds, 3 and 2. As both Ching and Kissling are at the top of their form the final of 36 holes should prove very interesting. In the junior championship J. Hall beat C. C. Biernacki, 2 and 1. Hall will now play the winner of the match between Dr. Horton and R. D. Gerrard. N. Hockin beat P. C. Niccolls in the captain’s prize competition, and will meet the winner of the match between R. D. The golf season at Opotiki was formally closed on Saturday in fine weather. A large number of players assembled. Prizes won during the season were presented by Air. H. G. Reeves, president. The champions for the year are Airs. Forbes and Air. R. A. Burns. Maungakiekie Ladies The qualifying rounds of the senior and junior championships, and the medal handicap match to be played at the One Tree Plill links to-day were postponed on account of the rain. They will be played to-morrow and will be continued the two following days, weather permitting. Waimarino Club Excellent weather was enjoyed over the week-end. The first and second rounds of the Anderson Cup, and the B ladies' championship, were concluded, but results have not yet been tabulated. In the A championships Jefcoate beat Byers, 5 and 4, and Airs. Fulton defaulted to Airs. Cody. A match between Penn and Blyth will be the subject of a ruling by the Match Committee. This week the fourth stroke competition will be played. It is also probable that the driving and approaching competition will take place at the end of the week.
