NEW FILM CENSOR
MR. W. A. TANNER’S CAREER SON OF FORMER M.P. Press Association. WELLINGTON. To-day. Mi'. Walter A. Tanner, who has been appointed to the position of censor of cinematograph films in succession to the late Mr. W. Joliffe. was selected out of more than f>oo applicants. The
salary is £550 a year. For the past four years he has been assistantcensor. Air. Tanner is the only son of the late Mr. W. W. Tanner, formerly M.P. for Avon. He has been a member of the Government Civil Service for about 34 years, and was for a time attached to the Land and Income Tax Department. For a number of years he was in the office of the chief inspector of post offices. During the war Mr. Tanner acted as deputy-chief postal censor, and for his work in this connection he received complimentary letters from the War Office in London, as well as from the chief military censor in New Zealand.
