PERSONAL. —Mr. F. D. Johnson, chief officer of the Kaituna, has been appointed chief officer of the Kittawa, relieving Mr. W. Johnson, who is awaiting instructions. Mr. J. H. Ibbotson, second officer of the Kaituna, has transferred to the Kittawa in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. N. Archibald fox' holidays. Mr. S. E. Gaskin has relieved Mr. H. S. Collier, chief officer of tlie Kaitoke, for holidays. Mr. 11. C. White has relieved Mr. D. N. McLeish as chief officer of the ferry steamer Wahine; the latter officer is on holiday. Mr. M. R. Tregale is relieving Mr. W. E. Willis as chief officer of the Kaitangala at Sydney. Mr. H. Abernethy, third officer of the Kaitoke, has been granted leave to sit for his mate’s certificate. Captain AV. McDonald has assumed command of the New Zealand Government steamer Hinemoa. Captain A. R. Cant is to proceed to England * ■ bring out the new Government steamer. HARPALYCE FROM NAURU. —With a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at New Plymouth and Wanganui, the tramp steamer Harpalyce is due at New Plymouth to-day from Nauru Island. HINEMOA SAlLlNG. —Spedding Limited advises that. the Government steamer Hinemoa will leave Auckland at 5 p.m. to-day for Niue Island, and is expected to return here on September 13. KENT LEAVES PANAMA. —News has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Kent arrived at Panama 011 August 22 from Liverpool, and sailed again on August 23 for Auckland, Wellington and other Dominion ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on September 16. MARORO REPORTED.— -The R.M.?>LS. Aorangi passed the auxiliary schooner Maroro at 11 a.m. yesterday. The Maroro was bound west, and her position was about 2S miles north of Three Kings. The weather at the time was light easterly breeze, with a slight S.S.W. swell, and was fine and clear. LAMB STEAMER OMANA. —The Northern Steamship Company advises that the Lamb steamer Omana is to leave Sydney to-morrow for Auckland. The vessel, which loaded coal and hardwood poles at Newcastle, completes at Sydney, and. arrives here about September 6. DREDGE KORUA SAILING. —The Gisborne Harbour Board's dredge, Ivorua, which has been at Auckland for six weeks undergoing annual overhaul and survey, is to sail to-day for Gisborne. The Maui is not expected to complete her overhaul for 10 or 12 days yet. On completion she sails for Westport to carry out a dredging contract for the Tsew Zealand Government,
HORORATA FOR HOME. —To-morrow afternoon the New Zealand Shipping Company hopes to dispatch the steamer Hororata from Wellington for London, via Panama. SYDN EY-FIJI CARGO SERVICE. —The local office of the L'nion Company has been advised that the Waitemata will leave Sydney on September 6 for Fiji, taking cargo for Tonga and Samoa for transhipment to the Tofua at Suva. CARGO FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA. —From South Australian ports the Union Company has been advised that the cargo steamer Kartigi will leave Melbourne on Wednesday for Auckland ; direct. MELBOURNE SERVICE. —The Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Manuka is due at Bluff to-day from Melbourne and later proceeds to Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on Friday and sails from there the following day for Melbourne direct. TAHITI AT WELLINGTON. —The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the R.M.S. Tahiti arrived at Wellington this morning from Sail Francisco via ports, and leaves at 3 p.m. to-morrow in continuation of her voyage to Sydney. PLEIODON COMlNG.— According to cable advice received the British Imperial Oil Company’s tanker Pleiodon sailed from San Francisco last Thursday for Auckland, Wellington and Timaru. The vessel is due here about September TOFUA LEAVES APlA. —Advice received by the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Tofua sailed from Apia, Samoa, at noon on Saturday for Suva and Auckland. She is to leave. Suva next Thursday and is due here the following Monday. SOMERSET DUE. —Although no radio message has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Federal steamer Somerset is expected to arrive at Auckland on Wednesday from Liverpool. The vessel hAs cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff. PAKEHA DELAYED. —L. D. Nathan and Co. have received radi i advice stating that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Pakeha is meeting with bad weather, and is now expected to arrive at Auckland on Wednesday from London. The vessel is bringing cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Napier. CAMBRIDGE DUE THURSDAY. —The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Cambridge has been delayed at Gisborne by rain, and now leaves to-day for Tokomaru Bay and Auckland to complete lier loading. She is due here on Thursday, and 5s scheduled to sail finally from this port on September 5 for New York, Boston. London, and West of "England ports, via Panama. CANADIAN PROSPECTOR TO LOAD. —The local office of the Canadian Government Line have been advised that tlie steamer Canadian Prospector is due at Auckland about Monday next from Southern ports, to load. It is hoped to dispatch her the same day for New York, Boston, and Montreal. CEDARBANK SAI L I N G.— Messrs. Robt. Millar and Co. advise that the Andrew Weir, motor-ship Cedarbank, which arrived at Auckland ©n Friday from Port Arthur (Texas), is to be dispatched at 4 p.m. to-day for Wellington, Rockhampton, Townsville, Brisbane, and Sydney, to complete the discharge of lier cargo of case oil.
AORANGI ARRIVES. —After a good passage from Sydney, the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi arrived at Auckland early this morning and berthed at the Prince’s Wharf.
