BAIL REFUSED

VALUELESS CHEQUE CHARGE (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday. Charged with attempting to obtain £j6 by false pretences, by issuing a valueless cheque, Colin Ray Deal Reeves, aged 25, appeared in the Police Court to-day, and was -imanded until September 1. Chief Detective Lewis caid a cheque book had been lost, containing two signed cheques. Reeves found it, and in the case of one cheque altered the name of the payee and cashed it. The other cheque, which had not been filled in, had not yet been traced. When asked by the magistrate if he wanted bail, accused declined the offer.
