The Maheno’s stewards and cooks have been notified by the New Zealand Seamen’s Union that they will not be supported in their strike. It i 3 hoped that this will have the eltect of inducing the men to rejoin the ship to-day. The Union Company management remains firm in its decision not to replace the chief and second stewards, to whom the men object. The passengers have left the ship. It was officially stated on behalf of the Union Company that if the Maheno strikers persist in their attitude, action will be taken against them to-day. The men will in that case be charged *ith refusing duty and with being absent without leave.—A. and N.Z
