NEW LYNN LEAGUE-ITES

CELEBRATE VICTORY Great glee has been expressed in the New Lynn district at the success of the local League team in annexing the championship of its respective grade. To celebrate the event a smoke concert was held in the Foresters’ Hall. The evening was spent in song, and in toasting the various authorities that have to do with the control of the League code. The musical entertainment comprised items by Mr. A. J. Thom, song: Mr. McCowatt, recitation; Mr. Forshore, monologue: Mr. Saunders, humour; and Mr. Worms, song. Messrs. Worthington and M. Young officiated at the piano. The toasts, to all of which full justice was done, were as follow: “Auckland Rugby League,” proposed by M,r. E. R. Edney and responded to by Mr. Ivan Culpan; “Junior Management Committee,” proposed by Mr. Worthington and responded to by Mr. McCowatt; “Referees’ Association,” proposed by Mr. Oakley Brown and responded to by Mr. Saunders; “New Lynn Club,” proposed by Mr. 11. Ellis and responded to by Mr. Worthington;

“The Artists,’* proposed by Mr. E. R. Edney and responded to by Mr. A. J. Thom.
