SECTIONAL PLAN OF THE COAL SEAMS BEING WORKED BY THE HILLSIDE COLLIERIES, LIMITED.

Transport of coal is by the simplest and most economical method in existence. It will he taken directly from the drive by tr--’ _ along a tramline with an easy grade to the Government railway station, and will there be screened. Thus there is only one handling of the coal from the mine itself to the main railway. Since the Otira Tunnel was opened, over 100

tons of household coal per week have been sold from the property, obtaining the highest price in the South Island. The output is at once being increased, and the completion of the tramline will enable the company to cope with the winter trade for 1928. From its location it is known as “Boatmans” Coal, and has established a reputation as the best household coal in the South Island, being entirely free from soot and clinker. In addi-

lion to the household coal the property contains first-class steam and gas COal "Hillside Collieries, Ltd. has been formed in association with G. Mci Clatchie and Co., Ltd., who have been established for 62 years as the [ leading coal merchants of Canterbury, and who will be the sole agents for "Boatmans” Coal.
