RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM

“OH! WHAT A NURSE” "Warner Bros.' production of “Oh, What a Nurse!” starring Syd Chaplin and directed by Charles “Chuck” Reisner, is an up-to-the-minute fun-feast fresh from the brains of Robert W. Sherwood, editor of “Life-” and Bertram Bloch. Beginning as a young news reporter on a San Francisco daily, Jerry (Syd Chaplin) is assigned to fiill the place of Dolly Whimple, of the “Advice to the Lovelorn” column, during her vacation. This assignment involves him in a wealth of highly humorous and unusually unenviable situations, drags him through the back door into politics and high bootleg finance, and reveals him in feminine disguise to the girl, played by Patsy Ruth Miller, whom fate has exposed to his interest. “Chuck” Reisner, who will be remembered as the director and “heavy” ot “The Man on the Box,” was assisted in injecting an unprecendented number of smiles, chuckles, laughs and snorts into “Oh, What a Nurse!’ not only by Mr. Chaplin, who is a most distinguished fun-monger in his own right, but by Scott Darling and Bryan “Briny” Foy, two of Hollywood’s foremost gagmen. As locale, “Oh, What a Nurse!” has a typical newspaper office, a “Gold Coast” mansion, a fast speed-boat, a rum-running schooner beyond the twelve-mile limit, and a bay ferry-boat. Frolicking among this scenery we find Mr. Chaplin in three roles as Jerry, Dolly Whimple and the Nurse, Patsy Ruth Miller as June Harrison, Gayn* Whitman, Mathew Betz, Edith Yorke, Dave Torrance, Ed Kennedy, Eric Johnson, Raymond Wells and Henry Barrowes.
