Round the Churches
The Rev. G. E. F. Leggatt, of the Melanesia Mission, will take the morning service at St. Matthew’s Church to-morrow. In the evening Canon Grant Co wen will preach. On Monday evening a lantern lecture on “The Cathedrals of England” will be given bv the Rev. R. H. Hobday in the Parish Hall. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour will conduct the evangelic services at the Methodist Central Mission on Sunday evening. He will preach on “The Red Cord.” There will be a special children’s service in the afternoon. ♦ if * The Grange Road Baptist Church will hold its Christian Endeavour Anniversary to-morrow. In the morning there will be a junior endeavour service, when the speaker will be Mr. O. P. Liddell. The speaker at the senior endeavour service in the evening will be Mr. H. B. Bristow. Miss Lucy Cleveland will contribute a solo. On Tuesday at the annual social the speaker will be the Rev. E. Nicholls. On Sunday afternoon at the usual meeting of the Young Men’s Christian Association, Messrs. Duke Maddox and Vic. Hudson will speak on “Can a man be a sport and a Christian at one and the same time?” The preachers at the various cen- f tres of •the Associated Churches of j Christ are Ponsonby Road, Mr. H. P. ; Leng; Dominion Road, Air. T. J. Bull; ! Onehunga, Mr. W. E. Vickery: Richmond, Mr. R. Phillips; Avondale, Mr. I. Hughes. At Mount Albert and Devonport services will be held in the morning only. At the Spiritual Scientists’ Church to-morrow “The Mater” will conduct j the service. In the evening Airs. Harris- i Roberts will speak on “The Test ol Discipleship.” There will be meetings on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The First Church of Christian Scientists will hold its usual services tomorrow. On Wednesday evening there will be a testimony meeting. At the Royal Oak Baptist Church Air. H. G. Massam will take the morning service and Mr. F. Wade will conduct that in the evening. The Ponsonby Women’s Christian Temperance Union will hold its next meeting on Thursday afternoon in St. Stephen’s schoolroom. An address on “The Objects and Outlook of the AntiLiquor Crusade” will be given by the Rev. G. Jackson. Air. F. J. Phillips, a missionary from South Africa, will reliver lantern lectures under the auspices of the Churches of Christ at Lie following places: Onehunga, Monday; Dominion Road, Tuesday; Ponsonby Road, Wednesday; Avondale, Thursday; Rich-
mond, Friday. The lecture will depict life in native kraals.
