WANDERING STOCK MENACE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF MOTOR UNION Press Association. NAPIER, Friday. Reference to the grave danger to motorists and the serious menace to human life created by wandering stock was made at the meeting of the North Island Motor Union to-day. In view of the fac* that the Impounding Act was passed in 1908 and since then there have been very/few amendments, taking into consideration the growth of moton traffic, the union decided to approach the authorities with a view to having the Act amended in the following direction: (a) Rangers to receive a regular salary and not be wholly dependent upon impounding fees; (b) that pound fees be increased all over New Zealand; (c) that penalties under the Act be made heavier and powers of rangers increased; (d) that local bodies be not permitted to lease grazing rights for main highways and that the law prohibiting the right of grazing be enforced.
