JUDGE TO RETIRE
MR. JUSTICE STRINGER A UNIQUE RECORD After 13 years as a Judge of the Supreme Court during which period he has held the unique distinction of never having a case upset by the Court of Appeal, Mr. Justice Stringer will retire in November next. The age limit of 72 will he reached on November 4, by His Honour, but In view of the pressure of work he will probably continue to act for a time.
Mr. Justice Stringer was appointed to the Bench on February 19, 1914, in Christchurch, after a successful career at the Bar. Throughout his tenure of office as Judge, his Honour has brought distinction on himself for his fairness and impartial judgment His record of never having a case upset by the Court of Appeal is an enviable one. He will continue to preside as chairman of the War Pensions Appeal Board after his retirement. There has been no mention yet of an appointment in place of Mr. Justice Stringer.
