MOUNT ROSKILL WATER

IMPROVED PRESSURE SUPPLY FROM MOUNT EDEN It lias been officially reported to Mount Roskill Road Board that the supply of water from Avondale Borough Council was terminated on August 11, and the system reconnected with Mount Eden mountain pressure. The engineer to the road board, Mr. J D. Whitmore, advised the authority that the change has had the effect of increasing the pressure by 100 per cent, in most instances, and in a few cases considerably higher results have been obtained. It has, therefore, been possible to enlarge the area served by this system to include Mount Albert Road as far east as Hillsborough Road, Three Kings Road, Kingsway, Queensway, St. Andrew’s Road as far north as Gorrie Avenue, Dornwell Road, Rugby Road and Hayr Road. The pressure outside the Veterans’ Home is flow 851 b a square inch, in place of the 401 b it was formerly. The Mount Roskill Road Board is paying particular attention to the water service for fire-fighting purposes, and each meeting brings an agenda paper containing something in connection therewith for consideration.
