HIT BY LUMP OF COAL
LABOURER’S CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. A lump of coal falling from a basket Wnile the steamer Waitemata was being unloaded at Lyttelton on July 20 last year, struck a labourer, Ellis Barraclough, injured his back and fracured a rib. He has been unable to work since. The Union Steam ‘blp Company, the owner of the veshim compensation up to -larcn 6 last, but has refused to pay by more. Before the Arbitration ourt to-day Barraclough claimed furtner compensation. The Judge said that neurasthenia _ r * disease, but it was a mental “2 a Physical one. The court awarded compensation, as for wages over months.
