A little flat muslin bag filled with oatmeal makes an ideal substitute for soap for the face. But the oatmeal must be changed frequently, as it is apt to get stale and sour very quickly. If you cleanse the skin during the day with cold cream, your face is apt to get shiny. You can obviate this tendency by sponging with eau-de-Col- ‘ 'where rain water is not available for facial ablutions, boil ordinary water for minutes; then put it out of doors to get cold.
