SOUTHDOWN SOCIETY
RECORD REGISTRATIONS Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, To-day. The first annual meeting of the Southdown Sheep Society was held yesterday. The annual report stated that the outstanding feature of the past year’s work was the change from an association covering a number of breeds to a society to deal wholly with the Southdown in the Dominion. The first volume of the society’s flock book will shortly be ready to issue. Members’ total flocks are close on 500, the new registrations for the past year of 76 being a record. Its assets total £620.‘ The chairman, Mr. James Knight, said that the prospects of the new* society were excellent. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. H. M. Stuckey: vice-presidents, Mr. Knight (North Island), Mr. John Deans (South Island); council, Messrs. H. J. Andrew, W. H. Buick, J. Deans, G. F. Ellis, W. H. Gimblett, W. J. Jenkins, J. Knight, .T. Stevenson, H. B. Stuckey and C. E. Vile.
