NORTH AUCKLAND RUGBY DOINGS
(Special to THE SUN.) WHANGAREI, To-day. At a special meeting of the Whangarei Rugby Union last night, it was decided to form a senior B grade competition next season. This year there are fifteen junior teams and only five senior, making the competitions very ill-balanced. A number of the leading junior teams have signified their intention of rising a grade voluntarily, and at least one new team is forming. A special committee, consisting of Messrs. C. E. Collins (chairman), W. Proctor, and S. G. Boggs, was appointed to generally further the scheme and report on September 13. Word has been received from the Bay of Islands that the latter union has decided to' default in the junior representative match for the Brake Shield, which was to have been played here on Saturday next. Owing to a difference of opinion on the question of the Harding Shield referee for the Northern WairoaWhangarei match next Saturday, both unions have arrived at a decision to obtain the services of an outside referee, and Mi'. J. Constable, of Hel- ! ensville. has been selected.
