FOOTPATH CROSSINGS

Recently some doubt has existed in Alount Roskill as to the liability of house-owners in that locality for the provision of pathway vehicle crossings to their residences. It has now been clearly shown that the road board has no power to compel owners to provide such crossings, but the board has full power and authority to prosecute persons for driving vehicles across such footways. There are sixty to seventy pathway crossings required in the district, and the board is prepared to provide the same at a reasonable charge. Otherwise any damage caused to the footway can be met legally by a claim. It has been decided that residents of the district shall be notified to that effect,
