A BIRTHDAY PARTY
MRS. HOWEY WALKER HONOURED On the occasion-of her birthday. lasi week, a delightful little luncheon party was given in honour of Mrs. A. xiowey Walker, by Mrs. Gerald Samson at her residence, “The Towers,” Tainui Road, Devonport. Violet being the name of tiie guest of honour, a decoration schema was carried out in violets, and violet was the predominating colour for the house decorations. One long table, beautifully massed with violets, seated 20 guests. • The place cards, of heliotrope colour, boro a spray of hand-painted violets with a proverb, which took the form of a competition. The guest of honour, who was seated under an archway of violets, wore a frock of black and wedgewood blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Gerald Samson wore heliotrope crepe faille. Among the guests were Mesdames Lewis, O. J. Malvern, F. E. Cooper, Jewett, Chilcott, Alex Watson, L. Dacre, Fahey, Heighway, G. Crosher, Misses V. Cooper, Vera Cooper. T. Fahey, E. Browne. The afternoon was spent in bridge and competitions, being won by Mesdames Fahey, Watson, Dacre and Lewis.
