NAVY LEAGUE DANCE
DEVONPORT ENTERTAINS The Devonport Navy League last evening entertained members of the crews of the warships in port with a “Jollity Dance,” in the Parish Hall, Devonport. The committee had contrived a brilliant colour scheme. With the assistance of some of the crew of H.M.S. Philomel, the hall had been draped in warship’s bunting, while from above threaded multi - coloured streamers were suspended across the hall, producing a rainbow cave effect. The Navy League ochestra, under the contol of Mrs. Bullimore, dispensed music from a blue and red alcove on the stage. Plain and fancy dress varied the ensemble. Vocal items were supplied by Mrs. Brown, Marine Gilmour, and Mr. Birkhead. The assembly included: Committee Mrs. R. Cleland, wearing a frock of apricot beaded georgette. Mrs. C, Farquharson, in black and emerald embosesd crepe de chine. Mrs, Wrigley, black ninon and lace gown. Mrs. Bullimore, silver sequined frock of blue satiu. Mrs. Lucas, frock of silver lace over white satin, Spanish shawl. Mrs. Marchant, maize embossed satin gown. Mrs. Melvin, jet silk crepe gown and lace scarf. Among the guests were: Mrs. T. Palmer, gown of black embossed velvet and shawl. Mrs. Hammond, white satin gown, with overdress of lace. Mrs. McDuff, powder blue taffeta frock. Mrs. Croydon, gown of sunset satin and gold lace. Mrs. Devin (Rotorua), cyclamen beaded ninon frock. Miss I. Caulton, njle green frock of brocaded crepe de chine. Miss McNeil, blush pink taffeta frock. Mips Braid, frock of flame taffeta and gold uaee. Miss Scagar, gold tissue and embossed gold and rose lace. Miss Bullimore, silver and rose lace, with black coatee. Miss Dance, salmon pink georgette and lace frock. Miss Cleland, frock of cyclamen satin under lace. Miss Redmond, sunset satin carreau frock. Miss A. Brown, mauve frock of crepe Miss G. Anderson, shot silk taffeta frock. . Miss Hammond, frock of rose pink satin. , , , „ , Miss Mault, cyclamen lace and taffeta Miss Middleditch, frock of wisteria taffeta and shawl to tone. Among those in fancy dress were: Miss Hegh, geisha girl. Miss Netia Bentley. Pierrette. Miss McSporran, Italian country girl. Miss A. Stoddart, pierrette. Miss M Horne, columbine pierrette. Miss D.'
