KURANUI. —The manager reports:— ‘‘The rise on Hunt’s reef has been advanced 6ft for the week making a total of 40£t from the battery level. The reef has opened out again and is encased in a much better class of country for making gold. Driving seaward on Oddfellows reef was commenced on Tuesday. Have driven sft for the week. The reef is about six inches wide and is encased in nice class of country which is interlaced with some nice mineral and silica seams, but no gold has been seen yet. MAORI LAND. — The manager reports ‘‘Timbering operations at the intermediate level have been continued, and are progressing satisfactorily, about 10ft of the level being secured.* At No. 4 level the air pipes have been repaired, and the corner shot off the level in readiness to put down a curve to the south face. The men have also been engaged driving on the reef south, and taking the leading stope. There are a few tons of quartz already broken in the face ready to be trucked out. About half a dozen trucks of quartz have been stored ready for treatment. OCCIDENTAL UNA.—The manager reports:—"The quartz broken from the intermediate level still continues to show gold. The foot-wall dropper has been cut in the crosscut at a distance of 58ft and a start will be made this week to rise up to the intermediate level. A leading stope has been driven for a distance of 25ft on the No. 1 reef in nice country for making gold, but no quartz has yet been broken. In the leading stope going south on the No. 2 reef gold has been seen in the stone. 201 bof picked stone has been secured as previously reported by wire, and the general dirt is bem* saved for treatment." ALBURNIA.—The manager reports as follows:—"The western crosscut has been advanced from 296 ft to 311 ft. The face at present is still of a blue rock nature, but has more heads than that previously passed through and is also a better c** s * of drilling country. In the last breaking down several leaders were passed througn ranging in width from one to two inches.
