Guilty of Ringing-In
FRAUDS IN AUSTRALIA ACCUSED BOUND OVER By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. The trial was concluded to-day at the Darlinghurst sessions of William Matterson and Waiter McCarthy on a charge of conspiring together to cheat and defraud the Richmond Trotting Club and the New South Wales, the Victorian and the West Australian Trotting Associations of large sums of money. It was alleged that a trotting mare which was registered in Australia under the name of Gathered Gold was identical with the New Zealand mare Promenade. Both accused were found guilty and bound over to appear for sentence if called upon at any time within two years.—A. and N.Z.
