ARRESTS IN BERLIN
PARIS PROHIBITS DEMONSTRATIONS
FEELING ON THE CONTINENT Reed. 12.19 p.m. BERLIN, Tuesday. Sacco-Vanzetti demonstrations last night resulted in 18 arrests, Reed. 12.19 p.m. PARIS, Tuesday. Street demonstrations have been prohibited, and other precautions adopted. A bomb was thrown at the Montpellier Police Station. It killed a gendarme and wounded others. —Sun. LONDON, Wednesday. A message from Berlin says fierce rioting was in progress yesterday at Halle for several hours. The demon strators were Sacco-Vanzetti syrnpa thisers. Many people were injured, and 6ii were arrested. The crowds stoned the pol'ce, but they were dispersed Ute at night. Twenty-five Communists fought their way into the St. Lazaie jtolice
station. The police covered them with revolvers and telephoned for reinforcements. Before help arrived the Communists wrecked the station in the course of a pitched battle. Four of the demonstrators were arrested. A great demonstration in sympathy with the two Italians was held yesterday in Hyde Park. A double cordon of police prevented disorders. The courtyard at Scotland "Yard was used as a parking ground for 20 fast motor-vans, the drivers of which stood by in readiness for emergencies. A large force of police guarded the American Embassy in London. At midnight a crowd of 300 persons, waving red flags, was diverted after a march from Hyde Park. —A. and N.Z.Sun.
