NOTES 2YA Wellington was not operating yesterday owing to a defect having developed in the land line between the studio in Featherston Street and the transmitting station on Mount Victoria. If the line can be repaired in time, yesterday’s programme will be broadcast to-day instead of the usual silent period being observed. Apparently more than one person has achieved his boyhood ambition of being a pirate. A solemn warning to all such persohs was broadcast from IYA last night when the announcer quoted the sad fate of several unlicensed listeners who have been fined various amounts lately. The Broadcasting Company are certainly taking the most direct method of spreading the tidings to all offenders. Aunt Betty has superlative tact. A youthful member of her “radio family” asked her to sing the “Prisoner’s Song” from IYA last night. Unfortunately, she said, she had mislaid her music and was unable to do as requested. The children are to give a concert during the bedtime story session next Tuesday. A large number have promised to be at the studio to assist with the programme.
