AIR FLEET FOR ITALY
MUSSOLINI’S PLAN PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Sunday. The Milan correspondent of the “Times” reports that in a letter to the president of the Aero Club, the Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, lays down t-,e conditions for the collection of a fund to provide airplanes for the State. Signor Mussolini says the subscription must be truly popular. For that reason a low rate must be fixed. The present is not the time to ask the public for money. Subscriptions must be absolutely spontaneous and no pressure must be brought to bear. “One must consider and be content with the symbolic value of every offer, however modest it may be,” says Signor Mussolini. “The subscription will attain the greatest results not only in the number of aircraft provided, but if it succeeds in fortifying more strongly the flying conscience of the nation.” —Times. CIVIL AVIATION AUSTRALIA’S HIGHER GRANT MELBOURNE, Monday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Bruce, announces that the Federal Cabinet has decided to allocate an additional sum of £200,000 toward the development of civil aviation within the Commonwealth. The amount at present expended is £115,000 a year. Among the new air services proposed are those from Adelaide to Perth and from Brisbane to Sydney. —A. and N.Z.
