OPEL CARS

FIRST TO ARRIVE IN N.Z.

Two Opel cars*, one of the best-known German makes, have arrived in Auckland, the first shipment to arrive since the war. These cars are very popuiar in England and South Africa, and increasing numbers are being seen on the road. The model landed here is a fourseater four-cylinder job, with fourwheel brakes, and will do 50 miles to the gallon. Landed in Auckland, the cost is under £3OO. The cars can be obtained in the usual range of limousines, touring cars, vans, etc., all of a low benzine consumption. The roadster, for example, is credited with being able to do 56 m.p.g. The firm of Adam Opal is the largest motor-car factory in Germany. After the war it was the first of the German works to reorganise, and now a car is finished every 2 minutes 50 seconds. Eleven thousand men and 5,000 modern machines are used in the factory.

“Am I to understand,” asked the prosecuting counsel, “that you deny having exceeded the speed limit imposed in this town?” “Certainly,” replied the motorist, with indignation. “What is it?” * * * Bill: Is that the same car that you had last spring? Harry: Same car, all except the engine, body and three new wheels Support Hotel Auckland and your city. 2
