ELECTION OF OFFICERS (,Special to THE SUN .) WELLINGTON. Monday. The election of officers at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Chess Association resulted: —Patron, the Gov-ernor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson: president, the Rev. J. K. Archer, Mayor of Christchurch; vice-presidents, North Island upper division, Messrs. H. H. Smith (Aaickland), C. Blackburn (Gisborne) and G. Boyles (Hamilton): lower division, Messrs. W. Mackay (Wellington), F. Kummer (Wairarapa) and O. C. Pleasants (Wanganui). South Island, upper division, Messrs. F. H. R. Neville and Roy Lovell-Smith (Christchurch), and B. Trathen (Nelson) ; lower division, Messrs. S. S. Myers and L. D. Grigg (Dunedin), and the nominee to be chosen by the Oamaru Chess Club; hon. secretary, C. W. Tanner; hon. treasurer, A. W. Gyles; hon. auditor, F. J. Brooker; and hon. reporter, F. K. Kelling. The next tourney to decide the championship of New Zealand is to be held in Christchurch, commencing on Boxing Day.
