HEAVY WEEK AHEAD FOR PARLIAMENT

FINANCE AN URGENT BILL POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK {THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Parliament is commencing what promises to be a heavy week. This afternoon will probably be occupied in discussing departmental reports and a long list of bills is ready for this evening’s session if the House feels in working mood. The Finance Bill, which was mentioned by the Prime Minister, the Kt. Hon. J. G. Coates, in the House on Friday night, will be introduced by Governor-General’s message, and the Government will move to accord it urgency, so that it can pass all stages at this sitting. The bill will deal chiefly with the Post and Telegraph Department, and might possibly affect the savings bank. The order paper shows the Government’s desire to deal with the following measures in order, apart from the Finance Bill: Egmont National Park Amendment. Bankruptcy Amendment. War Funds Amendment. Institute of Horticulture Amendment. Savings Bank Amendment. War Disabilities Amendment. This programme will not be got through at this sitting, however. An urgent question affecting the publ' -.lied statements about the Arapuni scheme will be asked by Mr. M. J. Savage immediately the House sits, and the Minister of Public Works is expected to reply straight away.
