NEW ZEALAND ROUTS VICTORIA AT HOCKEY
ANOTHER EASY WIN By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Monday. The New Zealand hockey team defeated a strong Victorian combination at the exhibition grounds this morning by 8 goals to 0. The New Zealanders played a hard game throughout. Penalties against them failed to result in scores. The visitors settled down to a steady combination game. Toward the end the Victorians were visibly tired, although they tried valiantly to stop a rout. Bell was a prolific scorer . for New Zealand. Rough play was frequent. The New Zealanders played a splendid attacking game. Cole fed his forwards admirably. From the outset the New Zealanders pressed strongly, play immediately going to Victoria’s end. At half-time New Zealand had scored two goals. Seccombe played a fine game. He scored two goals, Spiers one and Watts one. Although Fletcher had a comparatively easy time in goal he showed he is an excellent custodian.—A. and N.Z.
