MANUKAU YACHT CLUB
.A SUCCESSFUL DANCE “Ladies’ Prize Night” at the Manukau Yacht Club pavilion on Saturday evening was a most enjoyable gathering. The splendidly polished plank flooring was occupied to its utmost capacity. As M.C.’s Messrs. Norman Wilson (commodore), J. W. Rawlinson (secretary) and C. Herbert “filled the bill” with unqualified success. At a suitable interval, the commodore, Air. Norman E. Wilson, made appropriate comment upon the present gratifying position held by the club, a fact due, to a most material extent, to the vigorous, determined and unlimited actiivties of the ladies’ section of the membership. On the roll, at present showing a total membership of 273. 5G were lady members, and they had full justification lor presuming the ranks of the latter would be considerably augmented in the coming season. Pointing to the collection of handsome trophies about to be distributed among lady competitors during last season, the commodore observed that they were in no way meagre in quality or numbers, but future prospects indicated a considerable advance in the number of priaes to be offered. He congratulated the club upon its selection of Air. A. AlcLeod as the new president as his useful knowledge of the club’s affairs, its desires and requirements were unrivalled.
