A trap was laid for the girl. It was her lover who went to receive the documents, and both were eventually prosecuted. The court declared itself incompetent in the matter of fraud in an examination. But the severe council of the university took action on its own and decided to exclude the medical student for two years, while his discomfited fiancee was excluded from the B.A. examination. The desperate fiancee appealed to the Superior Council of Public Instruction, which, after a touching appeal for mercy, decided to reduce the young woman’s punishment to two years’ exclusion. It is understood that the young man s parents have decided to withdraw their ban on the marriage, so that the poor girl will be able to prepare for her B.A. in peace.
