LATE MR. WILLIAM RAMSEY
A PROMINENT FORESTER A prominent member of the Ancient Order of Foresters friendly society, Mr. William Ramsey, died at his home at Mount Eden on Saturday, at the age of 60. Mr. Ramsey was long-established in business as a painter at Devonport, but moved to Whangarei about 15 years ago. In 1922 he returned to Auckland and became associated with the firm of Ross and Glendining, Ltd. A past district chief ranger in the Foresters’ order, of the Auckland district, Mr. Ramsey was also secretary to Court Balmoral at Dominion Road, which he was instrumental in founding over two years ago. The funeral at Purewa Cemetery yesterday was attended by a large number of Foresters, and the burial service of the order was read at the grave-side. The district executive of the Foresters has decided to hold a memorial service in the Foresters' Hall, Albert Street, next Sunday afternoon. Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
