MAJESTIC
“GIRL WEEK” ON “Girl Week,” now on at the Majestic, is proving even more popular than “Variety Week” to the delighted and enthusiastic audiences which crowd the theatre daily. The first part of the programme contains the everpopular Majestic News, and Eve’s Review, a scenkj entitled “Portugal of To-day,” showing the wonderful architecture of its famous buildings, and a hilarious Tox comedy entitled “Girls,” which is a jazz version of the O. Henry story. The dance fantasy, “Harmony in Colour,” staged by the pupils of Madame Edith Baird, is an added attraction. It has been described as a “veritable pageant of colour.” Each girl gives ample evidence of careful training, and grace and charm are displayed in the most difficult movements. The Majestic’s new orchestra, under the direction of Mr. John WhitefordWaugh, renders another excellent musical programme. Included among the items are gems from Grieg, Brahm, and Tizgane. Particularly novel is “The Elephant and the Fly,” interpreted with marked ability by Mr. Frank Poore, piccolo, and Mr. Syd Sly, trombone. Again the beautiful Madge Bellamy scores a triumph, this time in Fox Films’ “Ankles Preferred,” under the direction of J. G. Blystone, and with a cast of supporting players of stellar rank. This swiftly moving story of a very modern girl, whose beautiful ankles were both her greatest liability and her biggest asset, is now being shown to crowded houses at the Majestic Theatre. The story itself is an intimate tale of silk stockings. And the cast, as above mentioned, is one of the best assembled in any one film for some time. Lawrence Gray has the principal male lead, while Barry Norton and Allan Forrest are the gentlemen in the picture who prefor blondes. J. Farrell MacDonald has the role of McGuire, and those who have seen this master of facial eraotions in “The Iron Horse, “Three Bad Men," and “The Family Upstaiis, know how many chuckles he CEl^\™ allse ' And he is at his best in this film.
